Art and Commitment: A conversation between the arts about their role in contemporary society

“Art and Commitment” was a four-day public conversation involving artists, scholars, and communities across the arts. The symposium explored the social role of contemporary art through collaborative and interdisciplinary modes of art practice and scholarship.

This symposium examined the role of art in contemporary society. Lectures and panel discussions featured internationally recognized artists, theorists, curators and poets who use art to bridge the social and political issues or our time. Guests included Marina Abramovic, Libby Larsen, David White, Krysztof Wodiczko, George Yudice, with performances by Guillermo Gomez-Pena and Pauline Oliveros.
