The Katherine E. Nash Gallery is proud to present six Master of Fine Arts exhibitions in a show that will run May 1 through May 22, 2008.  A public reception is scheduled for Friday, May 2 from 6 – 8:30 pm.  All events at the Nash are free and open to the general public.

The Regis Center for Art is located at 405 21st Avenue South on the west bank campus of the University of Minnesota.  Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11am – 7pm.  Parking is available in the 21st Avenue Ramp.

The Katherine E. Nash Gallery will feature a diversity of work from the Master of Fine Arts graduate students. Graduate students featured include:

Caroline Houdek: Caroline’s photographs feature places, spaces, and objects in our everyday environments in order to show what holds importance to us and what we regard as insignificant;

Josie Lewis: Josie’s work uses found paper, paint and resin to create semi-abstract works that reference aerial photography, cellular structures, and agate-like formations;

Jon Mahnke: Jon will display works based on the process of drawing and which represent the pulse and rhythm of the body;

Araan Schmidt: Araan’s installation consists of recycled industrial detritus which displays aspects of contemporary ruin, an unfiltered society of media bombardment and the fear of emanate danger;

 Andrew Schroeder: Andrew will exhibit two series of photographs named Evidence and The Model.  The series both investigate the relationships between space and place, and architecture and individual;

 Cheryl Wilgren Clyne: Cheryl will be displaying works of combined media, involving photography, drawing, printmaking, film, animation and sound art exploring the complexities of childhood.

The Master of Fine Arts degree is the highest degree awarded within the fine arts.  The exhibitions represent the culmination of work by graduate students during the three-year-program at the University of Minnesota.
