NAGAS at the Nash

The Katherine E. Nash Gallery is proud to present NAGAS, the North American Graduate Art Survey, a juried exhibition featuring 49 students from 30 graduate art programs throughout North America.  The exhibition opens on June 13 and runs through July 14, 2006.  A public reception is scheduled for Friday, June 16 from 6-8:30 pm.

Summer hours at the Nash Gallery are: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday – 10 am – 4 pm; Thursday – 10 am – 8 pm.  All events at the Nash are free and open to the general public. Parking is available in the 21st Avenue Parking Ramp.

The idea for the exhibition was conceived by a group of graduate students in the Department of Art’s graduate program at the University of Minnesota. Their intent was to organize an exhibition that represented the diversity of creative work by students in graduate art programs throughout the continent of North America. Forty-nine artists were juried into the exhibition, which will include over 80 pieces from a variety of art mediums. Some of the graduate art programs represented include: Cranbrook Academy of Art, University of Colorado-Boulder, California State University – Long Beach, Georgia Southern University, University of Iowa, University of North Texas, University of Delaware, University of Minnesota, Washington State University, and the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Canada.

Juror for NAGAS was Diane Mullin, curator at the Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art.

The University of Minnesota Department of Art, the Student Services Fee and Student Activities Office Events Partnership Grant, and the Coca-Cola community Initiative Grant provided funding for NAGAS.
