The Katherine E. These exhibitions open on January 22 and run through February 20, 2008. A public reception is scheduled for Friday, January 25 from 6-8:30 pm. All events at the Nash are free and open to the general public.
A panel discussion will take place on Monday, February 11 at 7 pm in the IN-FLUX Auditorium, Regis Center for Art. Participants will be Alexis Kuhr and Joyce Lyon, Lyndel King, Director of the Weisman Art Museum, and Diane Mullin, curator at the Weisman.
The Regis Center for Art is located at 405 21st Avenue South on the west bank campus of the University of Minnesota. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11 am – 7 pm. Parking is available in the 21st Avenue Ramp.
The Practice of Drawing celebrates the wealth and breadth of drawing in the Weisman’s permanent collection and presents more than sixty drawings and works on paper, many of which are exhibited for the first time. This exhibition is curated by Alexis Kuhr and Joyce Lyon, with the assistance of Laura Muessig, Associate Registrar at the Weisman.
In the accompanying exhibit, Recent Drawings, Lyon and Kuhr each create their series of delicate graphite drawings, Lyon’s an exploration of the structure and decay of gardens surrounding the medieval town of Otricoli in Umbria, and Kuhr’s a quiet sequence of overlapping line relating to the simple geometries that anchor the surfaces of buildings and pattern our clothing and interiors.
